[Quadcopter ZMR250] Maiden Flights, Maiden Crashes

1490030309_hqdefault.jpg

This was more testing if the quad was functioning than anything else, and since I had both the blackbox data and video footage, decided to experiment a little.

This quadcopter is a lot harder than my little Cheerson CX-10 (which I also never fly outside), but that’s probably more because of how I have the transmitter set up than anything else.

I’ll be throwing a new prop on for the one I bent flying and installing the FPV gear that I have, that might help with how I fly!

Quadcopter Setup:
Frame: ZMR250 Carbon-Fibre (ebay)
PDB: ZMR250 Power Distribution board (ebay)
Battery: 2200mAh 20C Zippy 3S1P LiPo
Motors: King Kong 2204-2300kV Brushless Motors
Motor ESC: King Kong 12A Opto ESCs w/ BLHeli (the beacon feature is AWESOME)
Flight Controller: King Kong CC3D Atom clone (the micro has been replaced with a 256K STM32F303)
Flight Controller Software: Cleanflight (v2 firmware compiled from source)
Receiver: Turnigy 9X8Cv2 with CPPM mod ( https://twitter.com/crennsmind/status/838271526566649856 )
Transmitted: Turnigy 9X running ER9X

World’s Smallest Camera Drone – Cheerson CX-10C Unboxing, Maiden Flight, and Review

1484890922_hqdefault.jpg

This is the Unboxing, Maiden Flight, and Review for the Cheerson CX-10C. It is called the World’s Smallest Camera Drone, but I still prefer to call RC Aircraft like this quads, quadcopters, or multirotors because that is what they are given that this doesn’t have GPS. That might change in the future though! I do see that the Cheerson CX-10W is already on pre-sale some places and that has WIFI FPV and is the same size as this!

One of the things I did near the end of the video was offer up a size comparison for those of you who are not familiar with the original Cheerson CX-10 and CX-10A. Since this is so small, I only compared it to some of my mid-sized quads on down. The biggest ones were the Syma X5SC-1 and Dromida Vista. The micro quad range was shown next and included the Dromida Verso, Blade Nano QX 3D, and then the Estes Proto-Z, which I mistakenly called the Estes Proto-N. The Proto N is the World’s Smallest Drone currently. The final comparison came down to the original Cheerson CX10 and the Estes Proto-X quadcopter.

Here are my review notes for the Cheerson CX10C Video Cam Quadcopter:

Pros
– Very stable for a multirotor this size
– Tight flips even with the added weight of the camera
– Three flight modes and all are usable
– An easy to see indicator light when the camera is in use

Cons
– Short flight times
– The camera is only .3MP, so the quality is low
– It has a slow yaw rate like my Syma X12

This video contains indoor flight footage only due to the weather. I will be flying this outside to see how the video footage looks with outside lighting on this Nano Quad or Nano Drone.

1479537469_hqdefault.jpg

This is the first outdoor flight with my new Hubsan H502S X4 Desire GPS FPV Drone Quadcopter.

Here is where I got this “Drone”: http://bit.lc/4oIu

In this video I test the GPS, Follow Me feature, and Altitude Hold. I also have some fun free flight too for everyone too enjoy. It is really attractive and well thought out. Even though my GoPro failed to capture it on video, the Return To Home function worked flawlessly too….twice!

Here is my pros and cons list after unboxing it and flying it briefly indoors for this Hubsan H502S Review:

Pros

– GPS
– Very fun
– Position Hold/Altitude Hold
– Long flight times (10-13 minutes)
– Built-in 5.8 GHZ FPV
– High quality radio with large FPV display
– “Follow Me” feature (Worked great!)
– “Return To Home” function (Worked great!)

Cons

– Calibrates is required before each flight
– Radio eats batteries pretty quickly (get some rechargeables)

This is almost like the “Mini Me” version of the Hubsan X4 Pro H109S I just reviewed recently. Both are awesome, so Hubsan should be very proud!

Here is how Banggood describes this Hubsan H502S Desire RC Drone:

Features:
* Built in 720P HD Camera FPV is tuned amazingly to capture stunning pictures and videos from the sky.
* With GPS auto positioning system, accurate positioning location, perfect advanced follower.
* Follow me mode with GPS enables the H502S flying itself to capture your adventure wherever you are.
