UPDATE – now flying brushless gimbal see the result here https://vimeo.com/66985973
The camera is simply awesome, I beat the snot out of it all weekend and it is still playing hard and having fun. I left a couple of crashes in the video, the camera is BELOW the arDrone so it lands first… incredible strong camera.
Camera mounted with a 3D printed bracket to the bottom of the arDrone, facing backwards so the props do not show up in the image.
The drone is controlled with the RCmod, the desert posed two big problems, WIND.. shoot, some of the video is filmed while flying full stick to stay in one place.. and secondly, getting up high, I learned the hard way that it is very hard to see the drone against the sun..!
Maybe a third problem is when getting up high it is impossible to see when the battery light flashes.. ending up in some rather fast landings when the battery runs out.
The video still need color correction and editing to be about 3-5 minutes.. this is the pull-tape with the stuff to use for editing. there is some yaw vibration, I will run those pieces through iStabilize before editing.
The GoPro bracket I designed for the arDrone can be found here http://www.shapeways.com/model/422364/beefy_gopro_hero_bracket_for_the_ardrone___rear_fa.html
